One year after the success of Top Gun: Maverick , Tom Cruise returned with  Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1  (Vietnamese title: Mission Impossible: Karma Part 1 ). 

The film is the seventh part of the famous series, bringing Tom Cruise’s name to the peak as special agent Ethan Hunts.

Few people know that in order to be as successful as he is today, Tom Cruise had to go through a difficult childhood and endure loneliness due to being bullied at school as a child.

Tom Cruise’s childhood was full of sadness

Tom Cruise was born and raised in poverty with an abusive, often destructive father.

In an interview with Parade magazine, Tom Cruise used strong words to talk about his father: “For me, that man has problems, you should not trust him, you must be very careful.” Be careful every time he’s around.”

Lacking his father’s affection, Tom Cruise was also repeatedly rejected by his mother when she thought her son was a spoiled child due to being bogged down with alcohol in his teens.

The family is not happy, and Tom Cruise does not have good relationships with friends at school. He struggled with dyslexia as a child. This makes Tom Cruise always feel guilty.

“The school sent me to a psychiatrist for a test, they said I was dyslexic. It was an insult to me. 

Not only do I not have close friends to share anything with, but I am also always bullied by my friends in class” – the actor shared.

Tom Cruise also revealed that as a child, he was very energetic and liked to play many sports. However, in his final year of high school, Tom Cruise suffered a knee injury so he had to give up his dream of pursuing this career.

At that time, Tom quit the football team and auditioned for the school play Guys and Dolls . A commercial director happened to see the performance and was impressed with Tom’s acting. He advised him to pursue a professional acting career. 

So, Tom went to New York to audition for musicals and started getting his first roles.

Brilliant film career

In 1981, at the age of 19, Tom Cruise had his debut role in the movie Endless Love and a supporting role in Taps .

Former Paramount director – Mr. Sherry Lansing said that Tom Cruise is a potential gem of Hollywood and clearly showed his preference for Tom. He praised the actor: “He is always extremely focused and extremely polite.”

Among the films he has participated in, the Mision: Impossible series still brings in the biggest revenue for his career with the two highest positions belonging to Ghost Protocol (2011) with 695 million USD and Rogue Nation (2015) with 682 million USD.

Director  Steven Spielberg,  when interviewed for the biographical book Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography by author Andrew Morton, commented that Tom Cruise is “a person who always radiates a source of persistent energy”. 

Thanks to that, despite experiencing many ups and downs in his career, he has never lost his position.

In a recent interview with the Sydney Morning Herald , the actor revealed that he wants to continue participating in Mission: Impossible until he is 80 years old, the way Harrison Ford has been involved with the iconic action and adventure series. Indiana Jones.

“Harrison Ford is a legend. I hope to continue making Mission: Impossible movies until I’m his age,” said Tom Cruise.
