The football player opens up about he scored a touchdown with the pop star, sharing that he had some help from her own family members.
Travis Kelce is sharing details about his love story with Taylor Swift.
The football player and squirrel whisperer revealed that he was able to successfully woo the pop star because he had several people, including members of her own family, assist the love connection.
“There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was in her corner [who said]: Yo! ‘Did you know he was coming?’ I had somebody playing Cupid,” Kelce told Wall Street Journal Magazine. “She told me exactly what was going on and how I got lucky enough to get her to reach out.”
Swift’s cousins played a hand during her Eras tour pit stop in Kansas City, Mo. at Arrowhead Stadium, home to Kelce’s football team Kansas City Chiefs.
“She’ll probably hate me for saying this, but when she came to Arrowhead, they gave her the big locker room as a dressing room, and her little cousins were taking pictures in front of my locker,” he added.
During their first date in New York, Kelce admitted there weren’t much nerves since “we had already kind of been talking, so I knew we could have a nice dinner and, like, a conversation, and what goes from there will go from there.”
The nerves were at a high among his inner circle, though. “Everybody around me telling me: ‘Don’t f— this up!’ And me sitting here saying, ‘Yeah — got it.”Kelce said he’s never “dated anyone with that kind of aura” — or, the incessant public attention — around them. “I’ve never dealt with it,” he said.
“But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it. The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange.”
Kelce and Swift have been romantically linked since September, after the athlete shared that he attended the pop star’s tour stop in Kansas City over the summer and attempted (but failed) to hand her a friendship bracelet with his number on it. Swift attended Kelce’s game at Arrowhead Stadium in September, resulting in pandemonium among Swifties and the NFL
