Top Hunk! Tom Cruise, 61, proved he’s still got it with THAT shirtless snap – so which other mature stars have maintained their muscles?

He burst onto the showbiz scene in 1986 with his breakout role in Top Gun, sending audiences wild with exhilarating flight stunts and sending pulses racing with his shirtless beach and racy sex scenes.

And nearly four decades on from cementing his Hollywood heartthrob status, Tom Cruise proved he’s still got it as he flaunted his shirtless physique while taking a dip in the sea in Majorca last weekend.

The father-of-three sent fans wild as he showcased his abs while strutting along the show in black swimming trunks.  It’s no wonder Tom is in such good shape given his ultra-fit lifestyle that sees him follow a five day workout plan, including three days of weight training sessions and cardio as well as two days of more ‘out-there’ activities like fencing or hiking.

Yet as MailOnline can reveal, Tom isn’t the only star to be looking just as good now as when they first burst onto the showbiz scene…

Lenny Kravitz, 59

Lenny Kravitz recently caused a stir online after showing off his incredible physique and tough workout regime.

The singer, 59, took to his Instagram to share a video of him working out at the gym and lifting large weights.

But it was his outfit that got people talking, as the rockstar sported a mesh vest and leather pants during his exercise routine.

But last month, Lenny offered up an explanation as to why he sometimes wears what most consider to be unusual gym attire.

He told Variety:  ‘I’m always working out in leather pants or jeans and boots and whatever — if I’m not doing cardio.

‘If I’m doing cardio, obviously I’m going to wear sweats because I’m going to be sweating all over the place. But if I’m lifting weights, I don’t sweat so much.’

He continued, ‘So, a lot of times I’m coming from somewhere or I’m going somewhere. And I just don’t care. I’m gonna pop in, I’ve got 45 minutes, we’re gonna hit it and I’m gonna go run to where I’m going.

‘So I don’t do it for effect. I didn’t do that to be like, “Oh, let me be just so different and wear leather pants and glasses.” No, it’s just me walking in off the street.’

The hitmaker also found himself defending the exercise techniques he’s using with his trainer Dodd Romero in the video.

But last month, Lenny offered up an explanation as to why he sometimes wears what most consider to be unusual gym attire

‘I know my body and what my body does and what it can do and how it feels and it’s all good,” he explained, before specifying that he’s trained with some famous athletes without disclosing any of their identities.

‘I trained with elite athletes, I trained with football players, NFL and NBA stars. I trained with MLB stars, wrestlers, boxers. I’ve played with them all,’ he declared in the interview. ‘I won’t mention names, but they’re all people you would know. And they’ll tell you I train very seriously.’

The Grammy winner shared about one specific instance when he went into a gym for a workout with a bunch of buff and ripped athletes, and proved those big guys wrong.

Lenny recalled: ‘These big athletes saw me walking in and my trainer said “He’s gonna work out with us.” And they all started laughing.

‘Because I was wearing jeans and a belt and boots and whatever shirt I was wearing, and they were like, “We’re gonna work out with this little rock star dude?”‘

‘Like they were making fun of me. And I destroyed them. And they didn’t see it coming.’

Lenny is also a vocal vegan, following a strict plant-based diet and says he trains five to six days per week, with even more exercise through his frequent cycling, paddle boarding and walking.

Dolph Lundgren also follows a five day training programme to stay in shape and has worked hard to maintain his impressive physique.

The Swedish actor and filmmaker, 66, focuses on chest and arms, then back, then shoulders and biceps before also adding in two leg and core focused days.

Despite having undergone double hip replacement surgery in April 2017, Dolph has bounced back and is determined to maintain his strength and stamina.

Helping keep up with his fitness regime is the fact that he is married to a personal trainer, Emma Krokdal, 27.

Emma previously admitted she was ‘so impressed’ by how much time Dolph dedicates to taking care of himself when they first met.

She said: ‘He really prioritises his skincare routine and has never had any Botox or aesthetic injections. He puts lotions on injuries and people often don’t take the time to do that, but you have to put that effort in if you want to stay young.

‘Dolph eats clean and has really learned to relax. We will go to bed at 8pm and watch a movie and get up at six.

‘We enjoy a glass of red wine and pasta if we go out, but we try to eat at home as much as possible because that way we know exactly what we’re putting into our bodies. I cook all his meals to make sure he gets enough protein.’

She added: ‘When we train he works really hard and he barely rests. I have to tell him to rest sometimes because he’s always ready to go.’

Ageing gracefully in the public eye is no mean feat, but with every breath he takes and every step he makes, Sting keeps on defying the years.

The singer, 72, has been relying on a series of trusted methods to defy the test of time, including a macrobiotic diet and yoga to keep his body in tip top shape.

He has credited his amazing shape to his diet, which consists of a lot of vegetables and grains, and aims to avoid toxins and processed food that contain preservatives as well as the low consumption of meat, dairy and sugar.

So devoted is Sting to his diet that he reportedly keeps his own personal chef on tour with him in order to keep it up while he is away from home.

Sting has said before that vanity and a bit of discipline have kept him looking in shape over the years and he is known for practicing Ashtanga yoga for more than three decades.

The musician is very dedicated to the practice and he is known to do his yoga even when away on tour.

During an appearance on Lorraine in 2021, he said: ‘I studied yoga for 30 years. But everything becomes yoga after a while.’

And String also revealed that he stays fighting fit because he ‘swims every day, I like to walk, and I sing.’

In 2021, he shared the secret to his washboard midriff in a TikTok video where he demonstrated his ‘perpetual crunch.’

The Message In A Bottle hitmaker lay on his back tensing and stating ‘Getting my tummy nice and hard’ as he showed off his incredible fitness.

He urged his fans to take up the Sting perpetual crunch challenge, writing: ‘You can do it.’

Brad Pitt rocketed to fame in 1991 after appearing as a sexy cowboy in Thelma & Louise and quickly established himself as a heartthrob before becoming an A-list star.

And his diet and lifestyle changes have helped the actor, 60, maintain his heartthrob status over three decades later.

While many in Hollywood have great mysteries to their ageless appearances, Brad has previously spoken about his stance on getting older.

In an interview with Esquire, said: ‘You get older, you get crankier, and comfort becomes more important. I think it’s as simple as that.’

A source told PEOPLE that Brad ‘really takes his workouts seriously’ adding: ‘It’s been a whole lifestyle change. And he looks amazing.’

His shredded Fight Club torso has been the inspiration for many men over the years, and according to TikTok, still remains the gold standard of male physicality.

During shooting for the film, Brad reportedly weighed around 70 kilos and had a body fat percentage of just 6 per cent.

In 2017, Brad told GQ he enjoyed non-alcoholic drinks such as cranberry juice and fizzy water along with matcha tea.

It’s also been reported he doesn’t drink or eat meat, allegedly being a vegan since 2011.

Another key factor to his looks Brad claims was his decision to stop smoking, as he explained that he realised he could not simply ‘cut back’ – it was all or nothing.

He went on: ‘I don’t have that ability to do just one or two a day. It’s not in my makeup. I’m all in. And I’m going to drive into the ground. I’ve lost my privileges.’

Simon Pegg, 54

Simon Pegg has been inspired by his Mission: Impossible co-star Tom and undergone his own fitness transformation.

Back in 2015, the actor, 54, revealed Tom offered his chef’s services on the set of the fifth installment, explaining: ‘it wasn’t like boring rabbit food or a protein shake. It was like great stews and these lovely little dates filled with peanut butter and sprinkled with coconut for snacks, and these little balls of truffle that were great.’

He added: ‘He was like, “Here: If you want to do this thing that I do, do it, too.” It was all him. It was given to us by him.

‘And we totally sort of relished the idea. But occasionally at the end of the day, you’d eat the chocolate on your bed pillow because we couldn’t resist it.’

Simon then shocked fans in 2019 when he unveiled a shirtless shot of himself showing off his rippling abs and slender frame after a jaw-dropping weight loss.

But while he dropped 19lbs for a movie role in which he had to be ‘very lean’, the actor admitted that his look was never meant to be ‘aspirational’.“

He explained he and his trainer ‘developed this plan to give me that body shape and it was a lot of work. I trained for three months with only one day off a week’.

To prepare for his Inheritance role, Simon reportedly lost around 20 pounds and dropped from 12% to 8% body fat, using cardio, strength training, and long trail runs.

He also said that Tom was a huge fan of the look, nicknaming him ‘eight-pack Peggles’ – thanks to his lean torso.

Simon has kept up the muscles and workouts for the Mission: Impossible films and last year told GQ he was fitter now than in his 30s.

He said: ‘Benji has changed considerably since he first appeared as a schlubby lab tech. As he’s become more adept as an agent in the field, we have built up a regimen based around strength and power, but always making time for mobility and recovery. At 53, I’m in better shape than I ever was in my thirties.’

Mark Wahlberg gives glimpse into grueling ‘4 am club’ workouts

Mark Wahlberg is known for how hard he works to maintain his ripped physique and regularly gives fans a glimpse at his gruelling workout sessions.

The actor, 52, previously sent the internet into meltdown when he unveiled his very unusual schedule in 2018, revealing his day starts at 2:30am and ends at 7:30pm and including sessions in a ‘cyro chamber.’

But now he  has backtracked on the punishing routine that baffled fans, saying it left him with ‘the worst eating habits’.

After the early wake-up, the star would eat breakfast at 3.15am, followed by a 95-minute workout, another meal, shower, snack, golf and ‘cryo chamber recovery’ – all before 10.30am.

Six years on, Mark has spoken out against the routine, which he did to prepare for physical roles, admitting it was ‘so extreme.’

He said he wishes he had realised this sooner as he’d ‘have another 15-year run at doing more physical movies’.

Now, instead of eating four full meals at 3.15am, 5.30am, 8am and then 10.30am, the Pain and Gain star has ditched the early morning starts and enjoys just one breakfast at a more human hour.

At 8am he eats two boiled eggs, three scrambled eggs, a pork chop with salt and pepper, wild smoked salmon, Greek yoghurt, berries, and a green juice with Moringa – an anti-inflammatory plant.

At 11am he has chicken breasts, chicken thighs, a bowl of fruit, broccoli, a handful of almonds and another of pistachios.

At 2pm he has salmon sashimi, a crab salad with cucumbers and a couple more pieces of chicken breast and in the evenings he enjoys a steak with sea bass or halibut and vegetables.

In March, he admitted: ‘I’m sad that it took me until I was about 52 years old to figure it out.’

He also revealed that he has ditched the intense workout routine which saw him training twice every day; first a 95 minute session from 3.40am to 5.15am and the second at 4pm.

Now he works out five days a week, but says he tries to focus on rest and recovery and eating far less than he does and still has managed to keep one of Hollywood’s most defined eight-packs.

Jason Statham has always been the ultimate action movie star, with a killer six-pack and intense fitness routine and he’s not slowing down anytime soon.

As a teenager, the actor, 56, began training in martial arts, football and diving, and even almost qualified for the Olympics.

Instead he recently constructed his own workout area in the back garden of a home he was leasing while filming in New Zealand, complete with built-in gymnastic rings.

In 2017, he revealed he had constructed his own workout area in the back garden of a home he was leasing while filming in New Zealand, complete with built-in gymnastic rings.

The strong star also lifts kettlebells as part of his fitness routine to keep his bulging biceps and combines Olympic lifts with gymnastic training.

His trainer for his latest film, The Beekeeper, James Moontasri said: ‘Jason stays in phenomenal shape year round on his own, so he showed up in a great place.

‘That makes my job easy and, in the end, when it comes to Jason, I’m just there to help him execute on what he already knows.

He added: ‘Jason can crush pullups and muscleups like crazy, and he does them on the gymnast rings. He’s got a routine he’ll do on his own before we work together, and it’s pretty intense. I think being able to push yourself in isolation is a massive advantage.’

Sylvester Stallone is equally committed to his films and used to change his workout regime based on his main goal for his relevant projects.

For Rocky, the actor, 77, concentrated on building muscle mass, and by Rocky III his body fat percentage had dropped to 2.9% which was dangerously low.

It’s easy to see how much the star’s physical fitness has played a role in a slew of films turning into money-making franchises over the decades.

In more recent years, Sylvester has taken to his Instagram to reveal that he has replaced much of his old workouts with weights for a regime of elastic rubber bands, in an effort to gain flexibility and minimize the pain in his knees and joints.

Even as he nears his 80th birthday, he has proved he is still able to do heavy weights, pull-ups and throw a serious punch.

Hugh Jackman is returning to his famously chiselled role of Wolverine for the latest Deadpool film with Ryan Reynolds.

And the actor, 55, looks just as ripped as he did when he first played the X-Men thanks to his dedicated regime.

Hugh uses a combination of weightlifting and high intensity interval training to achieve his superhero physique.

Celebrity trainer David Kingsbury, who prepared the star for his role in 2013’s The Wolverine, helped him make the transition to strength training to improve his size while keeping body fat to a minimum.

David told Bodybuilding magazine: ‘He’s very motivated and adherent, so he doesn’t require a drill sergeant or babysitter.

‘We broke the training into two phases: the bulk and the cut. I like to bulk as clean as possible, with a better end result in sight.

‘I calculated his calories to achieve the leanest muscle gain possible and adjusted them to his requirements every day. We used a combination of low-intensity training and intervals to keep bringing the body-fat levels down while bulking.

‘The weight training remained more or less the same during the whole process, the only changes in his body fat levels came down to the volume of cardio he was prescribed and the amount of calories consumed.’

Mel Gibson has managed to keep up his impressive fitness levels late into his sixties, with no signs of slowing down.

The actor, 68, previously worked with Australian personal trainer Samantha Jackson to shed a staggering 14 kilograms in just eight weeks in 2018.

After striking a conversation with him at a restaurant in Sydney, she advised Mel on how to change his eating habits and training routine.

The pair stayed in touch over the phone and eight weeks later Mel spoke of the amazing results he had seen.

He said: ‘My spare tyre I couldn’t get rid of, I tried all kinds of diets. In eight weeks, I’ve lost 14kg (30.8lbs). Now, all my clothes fit and my back doesn’t hurt anymore. I sleep better. It was pretty miraculous.

‘I feel good, really healthy. You’re eating more often, but better. And drinking protein shakes every day. Work out a little. Got more energy to work out.’

The health coach worked with the Braveheart star to trim his waist down by 27 centimetres – a feat achieved through a mix of exercise, nutrition and regular phone consultations.

Sam also shared Mel’s diet regimen with New Idea, demonstrating how nutrition has played a significant role in his wight loss.

A typical breakfast is an omelette with tomatoes and capsicum, followed by a protein shake for a mid-morning snack.

Lunch is usually chicken with asparagus, broccoli and green beans and sweet potato, followed by another protein shake for a mid-afternoon snack.

Dinner is typically grilled salmon with a small baked potato and garden salad.

Asked about using steroids ahead of his action star role in The Expendables 3 with Sylvester, Mel said: ‘That’s just hard work, dude. Have you seen the side-effects of some of that crap? Forget it, that’s too scary.

‘I just want Sly to look good. And he’s not going to look good if he’s beating up a fat old man I have been working really hard at it. A lot of cardio and very light weight training, nothing heavy.’
