Sparkle – in its brightest, boldest form – was awash on the runways, including at Mark Fast, Batsheva and Vivetta. Our favourite take on the trend was at Halpern, where golden crystals traced apricot coloured flicks of eyeshadow.

Once again, pink is spring’s stand-out shade, but this time it takes on a more sophisticated guise. The chicest way to execute it is a la Carolina Herrera, where models wore velvet pink pouts against fresh skin and understated kohl liner. (Try the brand’s Lip Liquid Velvet in Majestic Pink.)

For so long, liner on the upper lash lines has dominated our eye make-up, but this season hails the return of the under-liner. As seen at Moschino, No.21, Tom Ford, Dior, Bally and Louis Vuitton (pictured), whether inside the waterline or tracing the lower lashes, it feels modern again to go low with your liner.
Get the Louis Vuitton look with the Pat McGrath Labs Legendary Wear: Velvet Kohl Eyeliner, used at the show.

This fashion week was awash with colourful eye make-up, from lavender and turquoise at Prabal Gurung to limoncello yellow, pistachio green, coral and hot pink at Paul & Joe. Whatever hue takes your fancy, go bold but simple, with swathes of a single colour on the eyelids.
Chanel
The lady was a (chic) vamp at Alessandra Rich, Rochas and Chanel where plummy lips and sooty eyes sat against clean, fresh skin. This is not full-on gothic glamour, rather a spring-appropriate take on bewitching beauty.

Picture a bracing walk on a balmy spring day which might leave you flushed like an Ulla Johnson model. Or, cheat the bitten lips look with a stain (Victoria Beckham Beauty’s Bitten Lip Tint fits the bill) and these rosy cheeks with a cream blush that imparts a similar youth-boosting natural glow.

Tom Ford (runway masters of the iconic eye make-up look) weren’t the only ones to showcase smoky eyes for this spring/summer. We also enjoyed new takes on the trend at Moschino and Bally. At Bazaar we’re pairing ours with a pinky-nude pout, using Tom Ford’s Gloss Luxe in Aura (pictured left).

This season many shows opted to overturn the last decade’s dominant brow trend (full and busy, that is) with rebellious details, such as exaggerated slits at Poster Girl, and bleached-out arches at Givenchy, Burberry and Versace. Shows including Victoria Beckham provided a wearable alternative: lighter tones (which can be cheated with coloured brow gel), being the stand-out make-up detail on models’ faces.

If you’re searching for festival season inspiration, look to Susan Fang. An edgier take on the glitzy embellishment trend, here glitter was placed in abstract ways for a painterly finish, alongside a two-toned iridescent lip. (Note the bleached brows enhancing the face as a blank canvas for the look.)

One for the liquid liner fans: elongated flicks were seen at various shows, from Dolce & Gabbana (forever our retro liner inspirers) to Versace and Jason Wu, where shadow was also used to create a swooped up shape. For face flattering symmetry, match the tail of your liner to the outer tip of your brow, as seen here.
