TTO – Tyra Banks, Trieu Vy, Quach Kha Doanh, Kim Nam Joo… used to wear Vietnamese ao dai when appearing to exchange and perform in Vietnam.

After the movie Model , Kim Nam Joo’s face became famous in Vietnam. In 2002, she was invited to participate in the exchange program Korea – Vietnam: Two languages, one beauty in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of establishing cooperative relations between Vietnam and Korea.
Kim Nam Joo wore a white ao dai and performed the song Trong Tam with Vietnamese artists. Even though it was just a stage performance, Kim Nam Joo’s honest expression and beautiful figure in ao dai made the Vietnamese audience applaud her warmly.
Trieu Vy

In 2001, actress Trieu Vy came to Vietnam in the program “Messenger of Friendship”. She and singer Dan Truong sang the duet song Waiting for Each Other in the movie New River Farewell. Vietnamese audiences roared with excitement when they saw Trieu Vy appear on stage in a traditional Vietnamese ao dai.

Tyra Banks

“Host” of the famous model search program Next Top Model Tyra Banks appeared in an ao dai when coming to Vietnam to attend the finals of Vietnam’s Next Top Model 2011 contest.
Tyra Banks wore a modern purple dress with two long flaps in the back to debut at the press conference and immediately became the focus of the media.
It is known that Tyra Banks herself sent an email asking the organizers to prepare an ao dai for her to wear when she comes to Vietnam.
Quach Kha Doanh

When appearing in Ho Chi Minh City to take on the role of honorary judge of the 2005 Vietnam Supermodel contest, Hong Kong actress – Quach Kha Doanh was overwhelmed by the audience’s admiration. She decided to wear a pink ao dai and a very charming flower in her hair.
Afterwards, she also wore a purple ao dai to take commemorative photos. Quach Kha Doanh said she “really likes the decorative patterns on the ao dai and when I wear it, I feel much more beautiful and graceful”.
Shane Filan

Former member of the Westlife music group Shane Filan is a rare male face among foreign artists wearing Vietnamese ao dai.
In 2014, he came to Saigon to participate in the You & Me Tour Live in Saigon tour. During the performance, Shane appeared wearing a modern men’s ao dai and conical hat. Vietnamese fans were very excited by Shane’s friendly actions.
Rihanna

Without having to go to Vietnam, female singer Rihanna can still show off her sexy body in an innovative Vietnamese ao dai. At the 2012 MTV Awards, Rihanna appeared in a sleeveless Ao Dai, her head wrapped in a scarf and performed 3 exciting songs.
The audience immediately became “excited” with Rihanna’s strange outfit and after researching, discovered that this ao dai was one of the outfits advised by Rihanna’s Vietnamese stylist for the female singer.
Wonder Girls

At the M Live MO.A music festival taking place in Saigon at the end of 2012, Vietnamese audiences enjoyed an exciting performance. 5 “wonderful” girls appeared in ao dai with 5 different colors and sang the song Nobody.
The stage at Phu Tho Stadium that night burst into applause from the audience when they saw the Wonder Girls appear in Vietnamese national costumes.

Celebrating the 16th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea in Hanoi (2008), Korean actress Jang Na Ra appeared in a white ao dai with royal poinciana flowers painted on it.
Hanoi audiences had the opportunity to enjoy Jang Na Ra performing 7 songs and admire her lovely figure in Vietnam’s national soul ao dai.
