Hollywood veteran Patricia Arquette almost starred in a Tom Cruise movie.
On Sunday the 54-year-old actress shared with Variety at the SAG Awards in Los Angeles that she had an audition with the A list star, but blew it.
The film was Jerry Maguire from director Cameron Crowe, and the role eventually went to Renee Zellweger, who was a newcomer at the time.
‘Everyone was saying, “Oh, this is just a formality, you’re gonna read with Tom Cruise for Jerry Maguire, but this is your part, you got it,” and I blew it,’ Patricia told the outlet while on the red carpet of the awards show.
The Oscar-winning star added that Texas-born Renee was ‘better for’ the role.

‘She was great,’ she added.
Patricia added that she is just not that great with auditions.
‘I’m a terrible auditioner cause I don’t feel like that’s finished work… I wanna build layers with the character and with that other person and pivot and change according to how my character feels about them from take to take.’
She was also in talks to star with Brad Pitt in The Doors.
Her role went to Meg Ryan and Pitt stepped out of the film with Val Kilmer eventually playing Jim Morrison.

‘I just heard on this podcast the other day our friend sent us that the casting director, that Brad Pitt and I were her choice, we were the first ones who came in to read for The Doors, and she was like, “Why are we having any more auditions? They were perfect,”‘ she said.
Arquette was last seen on Sunday at the SAG Awards. She wore a sea-foam green gown with lace detailing.
The Severance actress hit the red carpet with by her boyfriend, Eric White, 54, who sported a simple black tuxedo.
Patricia and Eric were photographed holding hands as they entered the event.
The Boyhood actress’s dress featured a sheer neckline and flared sleeves.
She was at the event to support her series Severance with Adam Scott.
