Vice President Kamala Harris answered questions about her life, her childhood and laugh in a new video interview.
The vice president reacted to some of the most Googled questions about her in a feature video for Wired Magazine released Thursday.
She discussed her stepchildren and her reaction to superstar singer Taylor Swift’s endorsement of her campaign last week after the debate with former President Donald Trump.
When asked about Swift’s highly-coveted support, Harris said she was very grateful, although she pointed out their differences when it came to which football team they cheer for.
I am very proud to have the endorsement of Taylor Swift. She’s an incredible artist, I really respect the courage that she has had in her career to stand up for what she believes she’s right,’ she said.
Harris, however, noted she was a fan of the San Francisco 49ers, the team that lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023.
‘I am a 49ers fan but who’s mad at anyone for being loyal to their team?’ she asked innocently.
Swift, of course, cheers for the Kansas City Chiefs, the team of her boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Harris also answered a question about her ‘laugh’ which has become meme fodder for online mockery.
‘I love to laugh,’ she replied. ‘It’s really important to be able to laugh at yourself, laugh with folks and there are obviously moments that require serious thought and serious approaches but I hope everyone has a moment to laugh from time to time.’
Haris also answered a question about whether or not she had children, she referred to her stepchildren Cole and Ella.
‘I have two, Cole and Ella became my cherished children,’ she said. ‘I love those kids to pieces. They are my children and I’m very proud of them.’
In the moments after the debate last Tuesday night, Swift posted on Instagram that she would be casting her vote in the 2024 election for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.
‘I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos,’ Swift wrote.
She also praised Harris’ picking Walz as her running mate and touted him ‘standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades.’
She said she did her research and made her choice and encouraged her legions of supporters to do their own research. She also shared a link for people to register to vote.
Swift signed the post ‘Childless Cat Lady’ in a dig at Trump running mate J.D. Vance.
More than 400,000 people followed the link through her Instagram to information about registering to vote in 24 hours.
While Harris has not touted the Swift endorsement on the campaign trail, her running mate Tim Walz has given several shoutouts to ‘fellow cat owner’ Swift on the road since the endorsement.
He has also referred to Trump as the ‘smallest man who ever lived’ in a recent reference to a Swift song.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump on Sunday posted on Truth Social ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!’
