TPO – Donald Trump used Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour T-shirt design as inspiration for his campaign product. Angry fans demanded that the singer, born in 1989, sue the former US President.
On September 13, Mr. Donald Trump attracted attention when he released a fake version of a T-shirt sold during Taylor Swift’s world tour The Eras Tour .
The original design was a basic white T-shirt, featuring a black and white image of Taylor Swift surrounded by smaller images, representing each of her studio albums, differentiated by different colors. Below the images were the words “Taylor Swift The Eras Tour”
In Trump’s version, he kept the same colors and format as the original but replaced Taylor’s photo with his own.
The text changed to “Donald J. Trump” and the slogan “Make America Great Again” but used the same old font as the original.
Representatives for Mr. Trump and the pop superstar have not commented on the similarities between the two shirts. However, international media believe that the 78-year-old billionaire seems to be trying to provoke Taylor because she publicly supports Ms. Kamala Harris.
The news immediately caused a stir on social media, with many Swifties urging the 14-time Grammy winner to take legal action against the Republican presidential candidate.
Netizens commented: “Taylor should sue him for copyright infringement”, “Taylor needs to take serious action because he is really haunted”, “A 78-year-old man running for president is aggressive towards a young woman because she has her own political views?”…
Trump’s latest campaign merch sale comes just days after the Lover singer voiced his support for the US Vice President.
“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 US Presidential election. I am voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to defend,” Taylor wrote on Instagram on September 11.
The Fortnight hitmaker praised the Democratic candidate as a talented and steady leader. She believes Ms. Harris will lead the country with calm, not chaos.
Taylor also criticized Mr. Trump for sharing AI-generated memes of her in August, which showed Taylor and her fans supporting Mr. Trump.
According to the blonde beauty , Mr. Trump’s social media activities are part of the reason she decided to speak out, despite having remained silent since the election campaigns launched.
“It really brought up my fears about AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It made me come to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth,” Taylor emphasized.
A day later, Mr. Trump responded that Taylor was a Democrat so her choice of Ms. Harris was not surprising but “just a matter of time.”
He declared that he was not a fan of Taylor, and warned that the beauty could pay a price in the market for going against him.
It’s unclear whether the Eras Tour T-shirt copycat move is one of the first steps in a plan to retaliate against Taylor.
