The topic of BLACKPINK ‘s return after a long absence is not new to K-Pop fans. Although this girl group started their career in 2016, in recent years, the group has only returned to the music market once a year, even once a year and a half, making the audience extremely impatient.
Even when BLACKPINK returned, fans were disappointed with the small number of songs. The group’s two latest full albums, The Album and Born Pink , also only have 8 songs per album. This is a very small number of songs compared to a full album. This makes BLACKPINK’s entire music career limited to less than 40 songs – a surprisingly low number for an artist with 7 years in the profession.

If including the solo songs of the 4 members and collaborations with other artists, BLACKPINK currently has only 41 songs released, which is about 5.9 songs for each year of their career. If only counting the songs included in the album or under BLACKPINK’s own name, this number is only 29 songs.
Along with this number, fans believe that the talents of all four members are being wasted when the company holds back too much. At this time, many viewers also think that BLACKPINK is like models and occasionally releases music as a hobby, instead of their main career as K-Pop idols.
Of course, the audience’s complaints are all aimed at YG Entertainment, and do not attack the members themselves at all, especially when they always express their desire to release more music products. In fact, many viewers believe that YG intentionally makes fans wait a long time for BLACKPINK’s return to increase curiosity and create grandeur every time the group appears.
At the present time, BLACKPINK is in the process of discussing the contract with YG about whether to renew the contract or not. If the extension continues, fans will certainly look forward to meeting BLACKPINK more as artists and releasing more music products instead of continuously attending fashion events.
