Whoopi Goldberg is shaking off Kansas City Chiefs fans criticizing Taylor Swift for Travis Kelce‘s performance.
On the Sept. 24 episode of The View, the daytime TV host and actress brought up the topic of Chiefs fans âaccusingâ the 34-year-old pop star of taking Kelceâs âmind off the gameâ after his recent performance, prompting the hosts of the show to defend Swift.
â[The fans] apparently forgot that [the Chiefs] won the Super Bowl last year, and [Swift and Kelce] were just as tight then as they are now. What is going on?,â Goldberg, 68, asked her fellow hosts.
Alyssa Farah Griffin noted that the Chiefs have âwonâ all âthreeâ games they have played so far. Meanwhile, Sunny Hostin pointed out that Swift âwasnât even at the [recent] game,â jokingly adding, “Is she supposed to play the game, too?”
Griffin, 35, said that she believed fans were unjustly placing the blame on the âFortnightâ singer â especially as the Chiefs continue to pick up wins on the road back to the Super Bowl.
“As I understand it, football is a team sport. Just because he’s not making touchdowns doesn’t mean he’s not contributing to the success of the team,â she said. âThey’re currently undefeated this season. Once again, just the classic blaming a woman for a man.”
She went on to note that people were âactingâ like the Grammy winner âis a Magic 8 ball or a monkey footâ when it comes to how Kelce, 34, performs in games.

âSheâs very powerful, butâŠ. she can’t magically affect his game,â Griffin added. âThe thing I do love about this relationship and why I root for it, [is] they support each other.”
Goldberg chimed in to say that she âblamedâ the âMAGA crowdâ for being the most vocal about Swift affecting Kelceâs game âbecause they are mad that she is not supporting you-know-who,â referencing the Cats star’s recent endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris over former President Donald Trump.
“Grow up, y’all,” Goldberg told the audience at home. “Stop putting this on her. Your team is fine, your team is doing well. Shut up!”
This comes as the Chiefs tight end has been recently scrutinized for not getting as many touches in during week 3 â something which Kelceâs teammate and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes even weighed in on.
“Itâs crazy because the respect factor teams have for Travis is unreal, and itâs well-deserved,” Mahomes, 29, told the media. “Weâre calling a lot of plays for Travis and itâs like two or three [defenders] are going to him.
Mahomes continued, âIâm going to do my best to keep feeding him the ball whenever heâs there, whenever heâs open. I think the more Rashee [Rice] makes plays, the more weâre able to run the football, the more we can get [Xavier] Worthy involved, I think thatâs going to open Travis up more. People are really emphasizing taking him away and thatâs getting other guys open.”
